About the solution
Name: | AI-Powered Virtual Try On for Nail Color |
Technology: | Perfect Corp. AI-Powered Virtual Try-On for Nail Color |
Project goal | With the goal of transforming the nail color product try-on experience for customers, Sally Hansen partnered with Perfect Corp., the leading AI + AR beauty and fashion tech solutions provider, to implement a first-to-market application of the company’s new AI-powered nail color virtual try-on technology. With the launch of the Sally Hansen nail color virtual try-on experience, Sally Hansen and Perfect Corp. sought to alleviate a major consumer pain point in the nail color shopping experience. Unlike makeup products such as lipstick and foundation, nail color cannot be easily sampled and tested. As a result, consumers must often purchase a nail color shade without seeing how the color appears when applied to their own nails. This can lead to low purchasing confidence and dissatisfied customers. A key goal of this campaign was to solve this pain point by creating an engaging virtual nail color try-on experience that would empower customers to feel confident in their nail color purchases and find their perfect shades. |
Project scope: | Sally Hansen and Perfect Corp. partnered to implement this groundbreaking virtual try-on technology across the customer journey, both online and in-store. The experience allows Sally Hansen customers to digitally try-on +200 nail color shades from the Sally Hansen product portfolio, providing a hyper-engaging shopping experience and offering customers the ability to play with a variety of nail color shades. |
Innovation: | Perfect Corp.’s AI-powered virtual try-on solution for nail color is the most advanced nail color virtual try-on technology available on the market today, and features the company’s innovative AgileHand® Technology. Perfect Corp.’s AgileHand® Technology is powered by state-of-the-art AI algorithms and is trained on PBR (Physically Based Rendering) 3D hand models. The models include a wide array of skin tones and textures, as well as hand and finger sizes, encompassing an inclusive range of personal hand differentiators and traits, to ensure a hyper-realistic nail color virtual try-on experience for all. The experience also features a live-camera view, allowing customers to visualize the nail color as their hand moves. The technology is a groundbreaking innovation for nail color e-commerce and in-store shopping, as it allows customers to visualize nail color shades on their own nails before purchasing. With this technology, there is no need for physical product testers and consumers can try-on dozens of nail color shades in seconds which ultimately drives product discovery. |
Costs: | When searching for an AI + AR technology solution provider, Sally Hansen was faced with a challenge in finding a solution that would provide a true-to-life virtual try-on experience that upheld the brand’s high quality standard as the nail color authority. Many AR technology solutions available did not produce realistic renderings of nail color shades or were only able to show the nail color on a static image of a customer’s hand. When introduced to Perfect Corp. and the company’s AI-powered virtual try-on solution for nail color, the technology was truly unrivaled. The technology allowed for a hyper-realistic nail color try-on experience that would provide ultra-precise depictions of nail color shades across the omnichannel shopping journey. Additionally, the technology was quick to setup and easy to integrate into the brand’s ecommerce site. Shortly after launching the Sally Hansen nail color virtual try-on experience, the brand observed remarkable results in customer engagement, sales conversion as well as digital engagement across Sally Hansen’s platforms. Customer engagement with the virtual try-on tool on SallyHansen.com skyrocketed with consumers trying-on an average of 12 nail color shades in one session. As a result, Sally Hansen’s digital engagement metrics also increased significantly. Average time spent on Sally Hansen product detail pages increased +100% from 3 minutes to 7 minutes. The technology also allowed customers to experiment and play with many nail color shades, leading to increased add-to-basket conversion rates of +110%. |
Replication: | Perfect Corp.’s AI-powered virtual try-on solution for nail color is customizable to individual brand needs and can seamlessly be integrated across the omni-channel shopping journey, on both web and mobile platforms. The technology and experience can easily be replicated for nail industry brands and e-commerce companies that are looking to drive sales and create a more engaging, valuable shopping experience for nail color consumers. |
